When it comes to moving to a new location, several considerations go through the minds of buyers. They want a home in a convenient location, they want to find the best loan rate they can (that may be through a brokerage or through private lenders for mortgages), and the best place to raise their children.
Often, schools are of primary importance in that last area. Those looking for real estate in Oshawa Ontario may wonder just what options their children will have as far as studying at the post secondary level. Will they be able to stay home, or will it be necessary for everyone to rearrange home plans once children have graduated from high school?
Well, there is good news on the Oshawa front. Not only is the city close enough to Toronto, Mississauga, and other metropolises to offer access to universities and colleges there, but it has a few fine educational institutes of its own. Whether your children are interested in careers in data encryption or business, they will find a great education at one of the following institutions.
University of Ontario Institute of Technology
Created in 2003, UOIT is one of the newest universities in the country. It is home to almost 6,000 students, which means it is also one of Canada's fastest growing institutions of upper education.
There are seven different faculties of UOIT, including Business and Information Technology, Criminology and Political Studies, Education, and Health Sciences. As is inferred by the name, there is a special focus on sciences, engineering, and technology at this institution. In fact, students are required to lease a laptop as a condition of enrolment. Currently, it is the only university in the country to offer a degree in both automotive engineering and nuclear engineering.
Durham College
UOIT shares its campus with Durham College, although Durham is some 36 years older than the Institute.
Durham College is typical of an institution within the community college system. It offers many different two year diploma programs, including Associate degrees for those looking to start work on gaining a Bachelor's degree.
Durham College is also home to several skilled trades programs, such as electrical and plumbing training and apprenticeship programs. It also offers background to students in digital arts and basic computing. Finally, Durham is the most likely location for career development courses in occupations which do not require a full university degree. It's a likely place to look for those interested in getting their real estate license in Ontario, as well as a variety of other licensing programs.
And then, of course, there are the options available in nearby cities. For those who want to attend UWO, off campus housing can greatly reduce the costs of attaining an education. The option to stay at home in Oshawa while attending classes in London is perfect for any student.
